Let's decorate a wreath.

 

 

 

A couple of days ago I wanted to create something decorative for my home, I 
found these objects and I said to myself that it would be interesting to recycle them.

 

Hace un par de días me dieron ganas de crear algo decorativo para mi casa,    
encontré estos objetos y me dije a mi misma que sería interesante reciclarlos.

 

 

Today I'll show you the steps I followed for recycling the wreath!

 First thing I did was paint it white, to do that, I used a spray paint called

Krylon.

 

Hoy les voy a mostrar los pasos que yo seguí para reciclar la corona.
Lo primero que hice  fue pintarla de color blanco, para hacer eso, usé una 
pintura en  espray que se llama Krylon.



Added burlap on one side of the wreath.

Luego le agregué un retazo de jute.



On the other side I put a piece of lace that I had from another project.

 En el otro lado le  puse un retazo de encaje que tenia de otro proyecto.



Then I began to add fabric flowers, I also added a wood flower, and tried to 
make a composition that I liked with all these flowers.
Lately I've been making fabric flowers, I'm starting to get more ideas about
where I can use them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Luego me puse a agregar flores en tela y agregué una flor hecha en madera y 
traté  de hacer  una composición que me gustara. Últimamente estuve haciendo una

cantidad de flores de tela,  estoy empezando a tener mas ideas de donde las

puedo usar.

 

 

 

In my next posts   I'll show you what I'm going to do with the rest of the

objects,  by the time I painted all in white and I'm finishing decorate the basket, I'll  try to write the post as soon as I can. I also have other projects that I have to post, ah.... if one day   had more than 24 hours, all that could be done!

 

 

En mis  próximas publicaciones les iré mostrando lo que voy a hacer con el resto

 de los objetos, por el momento he pintado todo en blanco y estoy terminando de 
decorar la canasta,  voy a tratar de escribir el post lo más pronto que yo 
pueda. También tengo otros proyectos que tengo que subir, ah ....si solamente   
un  día tuviera más de 24 horas, todo lo que podría ser hecho!

Let's do some fabric flowers!

As I promised in my last posting, here I bring the tutorial showing you how to 
make these fabric flowers, as I did for my necklace. 
I made them, recycling one t-shirt I had in my pile of clothes to recycle, I 
found that the jersey fabric gives a nice effect to the flower, now we have to 
try to make them with other fabrics.
Let's start with the tutorial.

 

 

 

 

Como Les he prometido en mi ultima publicación, aquí les traigo el tutorial 

mostrando a ustedes  cómo hacer estas flores en tela, como la que hice para mi 

collar.

Yo las hice, reciclando un t-shirt que tenía en mi pila de ropa a reciclar, 

encontré que la tela de jersey le da un lindo efecto a esta flor, ahora nos 

queda intentar de hacerlas con otras telas.

Bueno, aquí va el tutorial.

 

 

Cut a strip of fabric 1.5 inches wide from the bottom of the t-shirt.

 

Cortar una franja de tela de 1.5 pulgadas de ancho de la parte de abajo del t-

shirt.

 

 

I folded it in half, and made a straight seam.

The important thing for me is to keep the same width between the place where is 

the fold of the fabric, and where I do the stitching line. To achieve this I put

attention to the left side of the fabric. The left side of the fabric is always 

at the same height as the left side of the foot.

I'll adjust the needle position to the right. If you do not have the ability to 

move the needle to the right, you can move the fabric strip to the left, so you 

get 1 inch or 3/8 inch between the edge and the seam line.

 

 

 

La doblé al medio  y hice una costura en línea recta todo a lo largo de la 

banda.

Lo importante para mí, es guardar el mismo ancho entre el lugar donde se 

encuentra el doblez de la tela  y el lugar donde hago la costura. Para lograr 

ello pongo atención a que el lado izquierdo  de la tela se encuentre  siempre a 

la misma altura que el lado izquierdo del pie  de la máquina de coser. De esa 

manera tendré el mismo ancho todo a lo largo de la banda de tela. Ajusto la 

posición de la aguja hacia la derecha. Si usted no tienen la  posibilidad de 

desplazar la aguja de su máquina de coser hacia la derecha, usted puede   mover 

la  banda de tela hacia la izquierda, de manera a  obtener 1 cm, o 3/8 de 

pulgadas entre el borde y la línea de costura.

 

 

 

Then we need a pair of scissors.

 

 

 

Luego necesitamos un par de tijeras.

 

 

We're going to cut along the edge, making a fringed strip like this. According 

to the distance at which you cut the fringes, will give different look to the 
flower.

 

 

 

Nosotros vamos a cortar a lo largo del borde, haciendo como una franja con 

flecos, como ven en esta foto. Según la distancia a la cual ustedes cortan los 

flecos, le dará una apariencia distinta a la flor.

 

 

 

At this moment we need to cut a circle of cloth, on which we will paste, our

band fabric, I use a piece of denim. My circle is almost 2 inches (is 5 cm) in

diameter, you will choose the measure that best suit you, according to your

project.

 

Luego necesitamos  cortar un círculo de tela, sobre la cual  pegaremos, nuestra 
banda de tela, yo use un pedazo de tela de jeans. Mi círculo mide casi 2 
pulgadas (son 5 cm) de diámetro,  usted elegirá la medida que más  le 
conviene, según su proyecto.

 

 

 



Now, begin to glue the strip of fabric along the edge of the circle here I put

some pictures. I  using a hot glue gun to do this.

 

Ahora, empezamos a pegar la franja de tela siguiendo el borde del círculo aquí 
les pongo unas fotos. Yo lo pegué usando una pistola de silicona caliente.

 

 

 

Last detail, add a decorative element in the center, in my case I added a

button.



 

 

Ultimo detalle, agregar un elemento decorativo en el centro, en mi caso le 

agregué un botón.

A Free Crochet Elephant Pattern and How to do a Fabric Flower.

 

Hello to you all!!  I'm really glad I finished this crochet elephants and I can't wait  to show you the pictures that I took. The pattern
to make this elephant is a gift, offered from Jan , she is the author of a beautiful blog called "Jan Made". You will find the pattern for the crochet elephant HERE.

 

 

 

This is a blog I discovered not long ago trough my google groups , and  I'm so happy that I foud her!
I invite you to visit her blog and discover the world of Jan, her creations are
beautiful and she is so generous that she offers several free knitting and crochet patterns / tutorials.

 

The interesting thing about my post today is that I have two new features, the first is show you these elephants I have done following her pattern.

 

..the other is that although in her tutorial Jan, shows us how to make the crochet flower  to decorate the elephant I decided to improvise and I made  a fabric flower, but I didn't stop there,
 

I decided to make a video on you tube showing how I made the flower ...... that was  a big experience. The most important detail that I have to let you know is that .....it is done in Spanish (you know it's my language).

For those of you who do not speak Spanish, you can remove the volume of the video and you  will understand the steps without difficulty.

 

I feel I've opened a new door in my life, after fight  a few hours to make a montage and more hours to add the music, when I finally saw the video on you tube it was a nice experience and a nice feeling!

Hola a todos!!! Estoy realmente contenta de haber terminado estos elefantes en crochet y de poder mostrarles las fotos que tomé.

para hacer este elefante, es un regalo  que nos ofrece Jan , ella es la autora del  blog Jan Made.

Este es  un blog que yo he descubierto no hace mucho gracias al mundo de google, y estoy contenta de mi descubierta, pues su blog es hermoso.

la otra es que si bien Jan nos muestra en su tutorial como hacer la flor en

crochet para decorar el elefante yo decidí improvisar y hice la flor en tela,

pero no me detuve allí,

 

 

 

 

Decidi hacer un video en You Tube mostrando como hice la flor...... esta fué toda una experiencia. El detalle mas importante es que esta hecho en español( ustedes saben que es my lengua materna).
 Yo siento que he abierto una nueva puerta en mi vida, luego de pelearme horas para hacer el montaje y horas para poner la musica, cuando finalmente pude  ver el video en you tube fué una linda sensacion!
Voy a tratar de subir el video al blog pero, por si no funciona, aqui les dejo el enlace hacia mi video por si alguien quiere ver como hice la flor, en realidad lleva 5 minutos, en realidad lleva no mas que 10 minutos realizarla, ustedes lo comprobaran.
