A Free Crochet Elephant Pattern and How to do a Fabric Flower.

 

Hello to you all!!  I'm really glad I finished this crochet elephants and I can't wait  to show you the pictures that I took. The pattern
to make this elephant is a gift, offered from Jan , she is the author of a beautiful blog called "Jan Made". You will find the pattern for the crochet elephant HERE.

 

 

 

This is a blog I discovered not long ago trough my google groups , and  I'm so happy that I foud her!
I invite you to visit her blog and discover the world of Jan, her creations are
beautiful and she is so generous that she offers several free knitting and crochet patterns / tutorials.

 

The interesting thing about my post today is that I have two new features, the first is show you these elephants I have done following her pattern.

 

..the other is that although in her tutorial Jan, shows us how to make the crochet flower  to decorate the elephant I decided to improvise and I made  a fabric flower, but I didn't stop there,
 

I decided to make a video on you tube showing how I made the flower ...... that was  a big experience. The most important detail that I have to let you know is that .....it is done in Spanish (you know it's my language).

For those of you who do not speak Spanish, you can remove the volume of the video and you  will understand the steps without difficulty.

 

I feel I've opened a new door in my life, after fight  a few hours to make a montage and more hours to add the music, when I finally saw the video on you tube it was a nice experience and a nice feeling!

 

In case anyone wants to see how I did the flower I will try to upload the video to the blog  at the end of this publication, but just in case it does not work, here is the link, actually takes 5 minutes to do this flower ( more exactly 10 minutes), you will check it!

 

 

 

 

Hola a todos!!! Estoy realmente contenta de haber terminado estos elefantes en crochet y de poder mostrarles las fotos que tomé.
El patrón

para hacer este elefante, es un regalo  que nos ofrece Jan , ella es la autora del  blog Jan Made.

Este es  un blog que yo he descubierto no hace mucho gracias al mundo de google, y estoy contenta de mi descubierta, pues su blog es hermoso.

Lo interesante de mi post del dia de hoy es que tengo dos novedades, la primera es

la otra es que si bien Jan nos muestra en su tutorial como hacer la flor en

crochet para decorar el elefante yo decidí improvisar y hice la flor en tela,

pero no me detuve allí,

 

 

 

 

Decidi hacer un video en You Tube mostrando como hice la flor...... esta fué toda una experiencia. El detalle mas importante es que esta hecho en español( ustedes saben que es my lengua materna).
 Yo siento que he abierto una nueva puerta en mi vida, luego de pelearme horas para hacer el montaje y horas para poner la musica, cuando finalmente pude  ver el video en you tube fué una linda sensacion!
Voy a tratar de subir el video al blog pero, por si no funciona, aqui les dejo el enlace hacia mi video por si alguien quiere ver como hice la flor, en realidad lleva 5 minutos, en realidad lleva no mas que 10 minutos realizarla, ustedes lo comprobaran.

The Butterfly Stitch Slouch Hat

Not long ago I discovered the community of google and in all honesty, I have to

confess, I opened a huge door to the web.

 

Google allowed me to discover new groups, new blogs, make new virtual friends

with the same passion that I have, would have to say with the various passions

that I have, because I like to sew, knit, crochet, do crafts too, and I also  like to

make jewelry. I can assure you that I found a group for each one of my passions.

 

You might wonder what I do not like to do, I confess.... I do not like "cooking"

and you're not going to believe me, I prepare daily meals for 8 people (my

parents, my 4 kids my husband and I).

 

One group I found in google community and to which I subscribed is the group of

"Meladora's creations for Crochet". Her group is full of beautiful people, each

one fills me with inspiration every day. Meladora performs a challenge each

month and when I saw that this month she proposed to make a "Slouch Hat" I could

not resist, and here's my slouch hat

 

 

 

 

No hace mucho tiempo que he descubierto la comunidad de google y en toda

honestidad tengo que confesar que me abrió una puerta inmensa hacia el web

 

Google  me permitió descubrir  nuevos grupos  , nuevos blogs, encontrar nuevos

amigos virtuales con la misma pasión que yo tengo, tendría que decir con las

varias pasiones que tengo , pues me gusta coser , tejer, hacer crochet, también 

hacer  artesanía , y me gusta hacer  joyas. Les puedo asegurar que encontré un

grupo para cada una de mis pasiones . Ustedes se preguntaran que es lo que no me

gusta hacer, les confieso no me gusta cocinar y ustedes no me van a creer, yo

preparo las comidas todos los días para 8 personas( mis padres , mis 4 hijos mi

esposo y yo) .

 

Uno de los grupos que descubrí en la comunidad google y al cual me subscribí es

el grupo  de "Meladora's creations for Crochet ". Su grupo esta lleno de gente

hermosa, cada uno de sus miembros  me llena de inspiración cada día.

Meladora lleva a cabo un challenge cada mes y cuando ví que este mes nos

proponía de hacer un " Slouch Hat" no pude resistir y  aquí esta mi Slouch hat

The Wavy Top Tote.

My daughter is in love with the zebra print, and I know it because  I've painted zebra

print bands using a stencil in her room , I also made photo frames using the zebra print as

image.....So the perfect accessory for her, has to be a bag with a fabric that

has a zebra print. Yes, that is a good idea... so I made ​​this bag to her, she is

in love with the bag and I I'm happy to see that she liked so much.

 

 

Mi hija esta enamorada del zebra print, en su cuarto le he pintado bandas de

zebra print usando un stencil, también le preparé marcos para  fotos  y usé  el

zebra print como imagen. Considerando todo eso el accesorio perfecto para ella, 

tiene que ser un bolso hecho con una tela que tenga un zebra print. Si, eso

es... y le hecho este bolso a ella, ella esta enamorada de el bolso y yo  estoy

feliz de ver que a ella le ha gustado tanto.

Here in Quebec it's summer and the flowers in my garden are in full explosion of

colors. Normally I do not post pictures of me, but I want to share with you this photos,

the colors of these flowers really inspires me.

I found this pattern in my search for something original where I could start

creating something, combining knitting and crochet. It is not free form, but for

me, this shrug  starts to look like a free form creation. I found this project on Etsy, here

Encontré este patrón en mi búsqueda de algo original, buscaba un proyecto donde
pudiera empezar a crear combinando el tejido y el crochet. No es free form,
pero desde mi punto de vista , esta pieza empieza a parecer a una creación free

form. Este proyecto lo encontré en Etsy. Aqui esta el enlace.

 

 

 

 

Discovering this Etsy shop was exciting for me, I found something else, it's

true, not everyone has the same tastes and we do not have the same style, but to

me, particularly I enjoy every creation of this shop.

The pattern was designed by the fiber artist, Janice Rosema, and is for sale

in the "simple patterns" Etsy shop. I did not use the yarn they recommend, but

I used  one that I like a lot, is the Amazing yarn  from  Lion Brand .

El descubrir este Etsy shop fué estimulante para mi , encontré algo distinto, es

verdad , no todos tenemos los mismos gustos y tampoco tenemos el mismo estilo,

pero a mi, en particular me gustan todas las creaciones de este shop.

El patrón fué diseñado por la artista Janice Rosema y el patrón esta a la
venta en "simple patterns" Etsy shop. Yo no usé la lana que ellos recomiendan,

This shrug is made by combining two techniques knitting and crochet, but there

is a version on the pdf to do it only in crochet.
I did some modifications at the end, but that's the beauty, give the personal

touch. I decided to add a brooch, this flower says something to you?

Usando perlas, beads y alambre, podemos crear una cantidad de accesorios , yo

hoy  quiero  mostrarles un collar, una pulsera y un anillo que hice para regalarle

a mi suegra.

 

 

 

 

 

I visited one of my favorite stores, Club Beads Plus in Montreal, I felt like a

kid in a warehouse of toys! I bought enough material to start creating something

 unique, the store is in Montreal but has an online site, if you want to visit this is the link.

As I decided to give a ring , a bracelet and a necklace to my mother in law,

this was a good excuse to go shopping. I don't know if you would feel the same

as me, but when I have an excuse to buy, I feel less guilty to go shopping!

Estuve de visita en uno de mis almacenes favoritos, Club Beads Plus en

Montreal, me sentí como un niño en un almacén de juguetes! Compré bastante

material para empezar a crear algo unico, haber decidido a  hacerle un anillo , un collar y

una pulsera  a mi suegra  fué un buen pretexto para salir de compras.

I'm really a beginner in this topic and the person responsible for my new

passion for creating jewelry is my mother in law. Since long ago I see her

create jewelry of all types and give them as a gift, and a couple of months ago

she began teaching me the basic principles of creating these pieces .

 

To create these pieces I used pearls and wire, the pearls that I used for this

necklace are glass pearls 12mm in diameter and in gray color. I didn't know

which wire to buy to make the ring, I asked one of the employees and advised me

to use 18 gauge wire.
To make the ring I watched several videos on you tube, this is the link to one

of them. If you write " How to do  wire rings" on you tube, you will be amazed

at all the tutorials that are available online 
 

 

 

 

 

En realidad soy una principiante en este tema y la persona  culpable de mi nueva

pasión por crear joyas   es mi suegra ( Hola Pepi). Desde hace tiempo que yo la

veo crear joyas de todo tipo y darlas en regalo, y   hace un par de meses que

ella me comenzó a enseñar los principios de base de la creación de estas joyas y aquí

estoy mostrando a ustedes  lo que  he creado.

 
Para crear estas piezas usé perlas, cuentas  y alambre,  las perlas que yo usé para este
collar  son perlas de vidrio de  12mm   de diámetro y de color gris,. Yo  no
sabia cual  alambre comprar para hacer el anillo, le pregunté a una de las
empleadas y me aconsejo de usar alambre calibre 18.
Para hacer el anillo estuve mirando varios videos en you tube, este es el enlace
hacia uno de ellos. Si ustedes escriben Como hacer anillos de alambre" en
you tube, se van a sorprender de todos los tutoriales que hay disponibles online.

Hope you like my creation, I have intended to write a tutorial to show you how I
make these necklaces, they are easy to make when we have taught the technique
and the tools needed. These tutorials are on my list of things to do for the
blog, you can not imagine how long it is my list, but gradually I will show
things that I finished.

My knitted hat!

I made my first knitted hat, I am so proud that I  have completed this project.

Obviously I could not do it alone, so far the only thing I can do with two knitting  needles  , is  make scarves, but this time I took it as a challenge and I did it!

 I like particularly Craftsy courses, so I signed up to the course  from  Stefanie Japel, Hats Four Ways and following her class,

Hice mi primer sombrero tejido con dos agujas, hace tiempo que queria hacer uno asi,y les puedo decir que  me siento orgullosa de haber terminado este proyecto.

 

Evidentemente no lo pude hacer sola, hasta ahora lo único que he
podido hacer usando dos agujas, eran bufandas, pero esta vez lo tomé como un desafío y lo hice!

Fué admirando sus hermosas creaciones que me decidí a tomar un
curso online. A mi me gustan en particular los cursos de Craftsy, así que me
inscribí al curso de Stefanie Japel , "Hats Four Ways" y siguiendo sus
instrucciones, logré realizar el sombrero que estan viendo.

always a mystery and learned to make decreases, this was an adventure for me!.

Aprendí a tejer con agujas circulares,esto es  algo que para mi siempre fué un

  I started to create something , in free form is called "Scrumbles" . I will

form, you will have an idea of ​​what I'm doing now.
